SOLAS DSMB Stickers
Dive Signs SOLAS DSMB Stickers provide highly visible personalised identification for your Delayed Surface Marker Buoy.
Made using SOLAS reflective tape, a material used worldwide for marking marine safety and lifesaving equipment, these stickers provide exceptional visibility when illuminated.
Adding your name and contact number to your DSMB gives your surface cover or dive boat skipper a clear way of identifying your buoy during ascent, decompression or whenever you’re separated from the boat.
Why add a telephone number?
Coastguard and lifeboat services can be called to reports of lone or drifting DSMBs, potentially triggering a search for a missing diver.
Displaying a telephone number as well as your name gives someone finding your DSMB a simple way to make contact and potentially establish quickly whether assistance is actually required.
To add your telephone number, enter the required number in the appropriate box when ordering. It will be printed below the main identification text.
Size & Explorer Style
Our standard SOLAS stickers use 75mm-wide SOLAS tape.
If Explorer Style is selected, the main sticker text size will be reduced to 50mm to allow the Explorer border and spacing to fit correctly within the 75mm tape.
If you need the sticker to fit within a particular space on your DSMB, enter the maximum required length (in mm) in the Sticker Length box.
If this is left blank, your sticker will be produced at the standard length for the text ordered. The Sticker Length option is intended to reduce a sticker from its standard length and will not increase it beyond the normal size.
IMPORTANT – Fitting SOLAS Stickers to a DSMB
Although our SOLAS stickers have a strong self-adhesive backing, the flexible surface and construction of a DSMB means that the adhesive alone should not be relied upon for permanent attachment.
For secure fitting, we recommend using Aquasure or a suitable two-part adhesive, such as Beaver Aquabond or Stormoprene, in addition to the sticker’s own adhesive.
The DSMB should be clean, completely dry and deflated before fitting.
Apply only a thin, even layer of adhesive to the back of the sticker and/or the area of the DSMB where it will be fitted, following the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
Avoid using excessive adhesive and try to prevent it from squeezing out around the edges of the SOLAS sticker or coming into contact with the clear laminate, as some fitting adhesives contain solvents and excess adhesive around the edges may affect the laminated construction.
After fitting, allow the adhesive to cure fully in accordance with the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions before rolling, folding or immersing the DSMB.
Some contact or two-part adhesives may require up to 48 hours for full cure, so do not assume that 24 hours is sufficient unless specified by the adhesive manufacturer.
For the best long-term result, avoid tightly rolling or flexing the DSMB until the fitting adhesive has completely cured.
