Dive Signs DSMB Upgrade Stickers

Personalise a DSMB, SMB or lifting bag that is already fitted with a strip of plain SOLAS retroreflective tape.

These upgrade stickers are supplied as a pair—one for each side of your DSMB. Each set contains precision-cut black vinyl lettering together with clear protective laminating film. The lettering applies directly to the factory-fitted SOLAS tape, with no additional adhesive or glue required.

Important Visibility Information

Because the available SOLAS strip limits the lettering size, these stickers are not intended for reliable in-water diver identification by a boat crew or surface-cover team.

Ordering and Sizing

Enter the maximum available sticker length in millimetres in the Sticker Length box. This allows us to produce the lettering at the largest suitable size for the space available.

Most manufacturers use SOLAS tape approximately 2 inches (50 mm) wide. If the tape on your DSMB is a different width, provide the measurement in the Custom Requirements box.

Fitting Guide

1. Prepare the Surface

For a used DSMB, clean the factory-fitted SOLAS tape with warm, soapy water to remove salt, grease and other deposits. Rinse if necessary and allow it to dry completely.

A new, clean DSMB should not normally require washing.

2. Position the DSMB

Completely deflate the DSMB and place it on a clean, flat surface. Make sure the SOLAS tape is flat and free from creases.

3. Apply the Vinyl Lettering

Carefully remove the backing paper, leaving the black vinyl lettering attached to the application tape.

Keeping the application tape under light tension, carefully align the lettering over the SOLAS strip. Check that it is straight before allowing it to make full contact, as repositioning may not be possible.

4. Apply Firm Pressure

Use a vinyl squeegee or an old credit card to press the lettering firmly into place and remove trapped air.

Begin in the centre and work towards the edges using smooth top-to-bottom strokes. Finish with firm strokes from left to right, ensuring that every part of the lettering is securely attached.

Allow the vinyl to settle for approximately 5–15 minutes.

5. Remove the Application Tape

Lift one corner of the application tape and peel it away slowly, keeping it close to the surface and following the direction of the lettering.

The black vinyl lettering should remain attached to the SOLAS strip.

6. Fit the Protective Laminate

Apply the supplied clear laminating film over the completed lettering and press it down firmly, working from the centre towards the edges to remove trapped air.

The protective laminate is an essential part of the installation. Do not use the DSMB without fitting it, as unprotected vinyl lettering may detach during use
